You see me singing my song, "Nobody's Business" in the video above? It looks like I'm singing to the audience, right? Well, I'm really singing to MYSELF. Hahaha! I am reminding myself that it's nobody else's job to make me happy. How I feel inside is completely up to me. I use all my songs as reminders! They are my daily MANTRAs
Here's the deal, there are ups and downs in life. We're all prone to them. Things can be flowing along beautifully and then bang, something hits you, out of no where, and knocks you flat on your behind. That's life. It doesn't matter where you live, how much money you have, or your job title, life has down days. The question is... how to survive them.
One day, back in 2011, I was having a down day....honestly, I had had several down days in a row! A few years earlier, I had put my music career on hold in order to focus on starting a family. Now, my beloved son was 2, I was missing making music and I had just turned 40. I was afraid that my chance of attaining my dreams was far behind me. It felt like I was "over-the-hill".
“How did everything get so off-track?” Was the question I kept asking myself. “How did everything get so off-track?” It was like a song that was stuck my head. It never left my mind. The question was there when I woke up in the morning and it was there when I went to bed and it made me wonder about all the decisions I had made up until that point.
Bottom line? I was unhappy and I was looking for something or someone to blame.
"Why is no one coming to my rescue???" I snapped at God. “Why does it seem so much easier for everyone else?” Suddenly, all the ways in which I felt people had let me down started flooding my mind. The blame game began and my list was looooooong. It started with my husband and flowed through a myriad of family members and friends “They should have done this. They should have done that” The complaints flowed freely and so did the tears.
